Brown Spots and Melasma
Condition Description
Pigment spots or "brown spots" are patches that often appear on the hands, chest, face, shoulders, and back.
Pigment spots, such as lentigos and lentigines, are often caused by excessive exposure to the sun without protection or with inadequate protection.
Although these spots are often harmless, it is important to consult a skin health professional who can assess their severity.
Melasma is different. It is often referred to as a "pregnancy mask". It appears as brown, beige, or gray spots on the face, especially on the upper lip, chin, cheeks, or forehead.
It can be stubborn and difficult to control.
How to Treat
This is not necessarily related to pregnancy. Hormone use, sun exposure, light exposure, and flushing, among other things, can also stimulate melasma.
Treatment usually involves the use of non-invasive technologies that effectively target brown pigmentation in the skin.
The first recommendation will be to wear winter and summer sun protection and to follow the application recommendations.
There are several treatments available to get rid of brown spots and melasma. Our skin health professionals will advise you on the best option for your situation.
