Some Treatments Work Better in the Fall and Winter
Maybe you're the type of person who is excited for the arrival of fall and winter. If so, September must be a hopeful month for you!
Much like you, some skin treatments work best when the sun is not as strong, and the temperatures are not as warm. If you’re curious which ones and would like to plan your medical aesthetic treatments for the coming year, here is a list of the treatments offered at the Figurra Institute.
Treatments for When Your Tan Disappears
Lasers and pulsed light treat the skin in depth to stimulate its natural regeneration. It is recommended that these treatments be done when the skin is less tanned, which is typically between October and May. The Clear + Brilliant treatment also falls into this category.
The reason is simple: these technologies use the contrast of your skin colours as an indicator of the areas to be treated and the intensity to be applied. Melanin, which gives skin colour and increases with tanning, is converted into heat and therefore energy, and then disintegrated. This is how the laser works to treat brown spots and sun damage.
A tanned skin is too full of melanin on the surface which could cause undesirable effects. It is better to wait for your skin to regain its natural colour.
Treatments That Should Be Spread Over Several Months
The most obvious example is laser hair removal. If you dream of not having to shave or wax during the summer months, the best thing to do is start your laser hair removal treatments NOW! This is even more true if you're planning a southern getaway this winter. There is no time to lose.
The laser acts on the hair bulb when the hair begins to grow. Since not all our hairs are at the same stage of growth at the same time (there are three different stages), it takes a few treatments to achieve the desired results.
Treatments That Make the Skin More Sensitive
Some treatments make the skin more sensitive to the sun for a short period of time.
This is the case with peels which are used to rid the face of dead cells and stimulate skin regeneration. If your face has age spots, uneven pigmentation, acne scars, enlarged pores, redness, or fine lines and wrinkles, this treatment assists in brightening and evening out the complexion and making the skin more supple.
Taking Care of Yourself
