Do I need to be referred by my family doctor to go to your clinic?

Figurra is a private dermatology laser-aesthetic clinic and therefore you do not need a doctor's referral. Please refer to our Treatment and skin conditions for a complete list of services available at our clinic. Please note that we do not offer general dermatology services, such as regular skin check-ups or examining rashes. It is best to consult a general practitioner for these conditions. For any urgent or semi-urgent conditions, please visit your closest hospital emergency services, your family doctor or your neighbourhood family after hours medical clinic.
How much does an evaluation cost?

Considering this is a private clinic for medical aesthetic + laser services, a fee of $ 75 to $ 225 is applicable on all of our consultations / evaluations. Depending on your condition and the type of treatment for which you wish to consult, we will advise you which medical professional you will meet: an aesthetician, laser technician, nurse or, as the case may be, one of our doctors.

The duration of our personalized evaluation may vary between 30 and 45 minutes. Please plan your appointment in advance and arrive to your appointment approximatively 10 to 15 minutes earlier so that you have time to fill and complete the necessary documentation. It is always preferable to allow more time in case the evaluation takes longer than expected.

During the evaluation, one of our medical professionals will assess your situation / need, answer your questions, and discuss your personalized treatment options, their benefits, recovery time and expected results, as well as costs associated with the treatments.
How much do the treatments cost?

The prices for each treatment are determined at the time of your evaluation. As several factors impact the treatment cost, an evaluation must first be conducted. Our medical professionals will ask several questions, examine your condition (size, pigmentation, area of treatment, severity, etc. ) and, based on the evaluation, provide a price structure along with the number and type of treatments. As a guide, we have identified the base (minimum) price for each treatment on our website.

How many treatments will I need?

The number and type of treatments are discussed at the time of your evaluation. As everyone is different and an individualized approach is necessary for a natural optimal result, an evaluation must first be conducted. Our medical professionals will ask several questions, examine your condition (size, pigmentation, area of treatment, severity, etc.) and, based on our findings, suggest an approximate number and type of treatments.

Note: We are all unique! Elements such as our physiology, skin type, age, health of our skin (sun damage), severity of our condition, receptiveness to treatments will all play a role on the final type and number of treatments.
What do I need to bring with me when I go to my appointment?

It is very important that you bring your updated medication list, a list of your past surgeries and past/current medical conditions and your Provincial Health Insurance Card (ex: Medicare Card, PEI Health Card or Nova Scotia Health Card) to every appointment. View our policies
Why do I need to provide my health insurance number if you’re a private/cosmetic clinic?

Although Figurra is a private clinic, it is still a medical clinic. Each client must present a valid provincial health insurance card at each appointment. Your provincial health insurance card information is kept in your client file so it can be readily available for any unforeseen medical emergency, serve as a unique personal identification number in our health records, and meet the insurance requirements for our practice.

There will only be Medicare billing for referred consultation visits and some medical follow-up appointments. Rest assured that you will be advised in the event that Figurra charges Medicare.
If my family doctor has referred me to your clinic will the evaluation and treatments be covered?

Your evaluation fee will be covered through your provincial health insurance; however, since Figurra is a private dermatology laser-aesthetic clinic, the cost for recommended treatments will be your responsibility.

Note: Certain treatments or part of treatments may be covered through your private medical insurance plan. It is strongly recommended that you verify with your insurance provider for more information since we do not deal with private insurance plans.
How long will the treatment take?

The length varies from one treatment to another and from one patient to another. Our medical professionals will elaborate on the treatment times during your personalized evaluation.

As our body ages, our body changes based on factors such as genetics, sun exposure, hormonal variations, etc. If you wish to maintain the desired result(s) over time, you may likely require some maintenance treatment(s) thereafter.
What type of treatments do you offer?

Will I have guaranteed results?

Medicine is not an exact science. Since results are very individualized and personal, there is no guarantee that the outcome will meet all expectations. Although we cannot fully guarantee results, we promise to offer you an optimized plan tailored to your individual needs in dermatology aesthetics and laser treatments. We pride ourselves on constantly improving your experience to provide the best professional and courteous service to our clients.
What type of products do you sell?

We carry a wide range of skin care products from Vitamin C Serums to facial cleansers, mineral makeup, and sunscreens. Product lines include Pro-Derm™, Vivierskin®, Skin TX®, Colorescience™, Skin Medica®, Latisse™ and Olivier®. We even carry organic loose leaf teas from Chameleon Teas... for your inner health!
Why do you offer and sell skin care products to clients?

We carry select products from a limited number of companies that we believe greatly complement our services and the skin conditions we treat at the clinic. Our team uses these products daily and can therefore properly position them within your personalized skin care treatment plan. We have also carefully selected the appropriate products for skin conditions that require prescription creams.

This depends on the severity of the condition, such as the depth of the pigment. A series of treatments may be required for more extensive cases. This will be discussed with you as part of your evaluation.

IPL treatment feels like a small rubber band hitting the skin. Most patients find this relatively painless.
What is the recovery period for this treatment?

Skin may appear reddish or flushed following the treatment. If desired, you can apply make-up immediately afterwards.

Laser hair removal can cause discomfort, the degree of which often depends on your skin's sensitivity and the location of the unwanted hair.

How long before I see results?

This varies depending on the treatment options used. The full effects of Botox® treatment usually take about 10 days to appear, while with Fillers, the results are immediate.
Is there any pain involved in this treatment?

Botox® treatments are virtually painless. Some Fillers contain an anaesthetic to reduce any discomfort and, if not, a topical anaesthetic can be used.
What is the recovery period for this treatment?

There is minimal, if any, recovery time; however, some patients experience temporary bruising and swelling.

Success rates are high for treatments; however, with time, other veins can become abnormal as there is no cure for weakness in vein valves.

A topical or injectable anaesthetic is typically used to avoid any discomfort.

The effects will last anywhere from four months to one year depending on the nature of the treatment.

The number of treatments varies depending on the size, depth, location and colours in the tattoo. Professional tattoos often involve more treatment sessions than amateur tattoos.

What is the Thermage® procedure?

Thermage is a safe, non-invasive, radiofrequency (RF) cosmetic procedure that’s clinically proven to help smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall younger looking appearance. The treatment delivers natural looking results with little to no downtime – on all skin colors, on and off the face, all in a single procedure.
What parts of the body does Thermage treat?

Thermage procedures can effectively and safely treat skin on most body parts, including the face, eyes, lips, tummy, arms, hands, thighs and buttocks. Thermage can also temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite.
What conditions does Thermage treat?

On the face, Thermage can treat sagging skin, loose jowls, lack of definition in the jaw line, sagging neck skin (“turkey neck”), wrinkles and fine lines, and lack of definition in the lips.

Around the eyes, Thermage can treat under eye bags, hooding, rough texture on the eyelids, wrinkles and fine lines, and other contributors to tired looking eyes.

Elsewhere on the body, Thermage can treat wrinkled, crepey, sagging or bulging skin as well as the appearance of cellulite.
How many treatments will I need?

Unlike many laser procedures requiring four or more sessions, Thermage treatment delivers results in a single treatment for most patients. In fact, when it comes to skin tightening and contouring with little to no downtime, Thermage is the only single treatment, non-invasive procedure on the market.
How long is the treatment?

Thermage treatments average between 60 minutes up to two hours depending on the parts of the body, size, location and condition of the area to be treated. Since Thermage is a short procedure and a single treatment, it fits into your busy lifestyle.
Is there any special preparation or follow-up regime?

No. Unlike surgery, there is no pre-procedure preparation such as blood work or fasting. And there is no special care required after treatment, aside from basic skin maintenance and sunscreens as part of a regular skincare regimen. Since the Thermage procedure has little to no downtime, most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. Some patients exhibit a temporary redness or minor swelling after treatment, but this usually goes away within 24 hours.
How does Thermage treatment work?

Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deep, collagen rich layers of your skin. The heat helps tighten existing collagen and stimulate the formation of new collagen, which reduces sagging, renews contours, and improves the smoothness and texture of the skin’s surface.
How is Thermage technology different from other tightening procedures?

Unlike some other procedures, Thermage involves no surgery, no injections and little to no downtime, and Thermage works on all skin colors – on and off the face. Visible results may be immediate, and they may appear over time in the course of your body’s natural collagen rebuilding process. For most patients, measurable tightening and contouring appear gradually in the two to six months following a single treatment session. Results can last years depending on your skin condition and aging process.
What does the Thermage procedure feel like?

Each time the treatment device touches your skin, you’ll feel a brief cooling sensation, followed by a deep but brief heating sensation, followed by another cooling sensation. The heating sensation is a sign that the deep layers of your skin are reaching effective temperatures for tightening. Throughout the procedure, your physician will ask for feedback on the level of heat sensation to help balance your comfort with maximum results.
